About BAOP

The Barbados Association of Office Professionals (BAOP) is the leading Association in Barbados for administrative support personnel. Its current membership is approximately 90. Formerly known as the Barbados Secretaries Association, the BAOP has been in existence since 1974.

From inception, the BAOP, a not-for-profit organization, has provided opportunities for its members to enhance their skills and leadership potential through conferences which are also available to the wider community. The membership includes administrative assistants, executive assistants, office managers, secretaries and related administrative professionals.

Each year a Board of Directors is elected to oversee the proper functioning of the Association.  The Board comprises President, President Elect, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant Secretary Treasurer and the Immediate Past President.

The Board of Directors is assisted by a number of Standing and Ad hoc Committees, which are headed by Chairpersons. These committees are responsible for the formulation and execution of programmes for members and the wider community.

The BAOP is the umbrella body of the Barbados Association of Future Office Professionals (BAFOP).  The BAOP is a member of the Caribbean Association of Administrative Professionals (CAAP) and affiliated with the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP).

The Association’s objective is to elevate the standards of the office professional in Barbados through continuing efforts to promote educational and professional development.  Our aim is to enhance their individual and collective value, image, competence and influence.  We do this by providing educational resources and opportunities to achieve and maintain the highest level of professional development.

We project a professional, strong and authoritative image, which is recognized and valued by the business community.
