THE PROGRAM
The Barbados Association of Office Professionals (BAOP) has established a scholarship to help finance higher education in Business Studies for children of its members and members of the Barbados Association of Future Office Professionals (BAFOP). The Program is sponsored and managed by the BAOP. Awards will be given without regard to race, colour, religion, sex, physical ability or national origin.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must be children of members of BAOP or members of BAFOP and may be enrolled as a business studies student at the Barbados Community College or the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic or at an accredited Institution on a full time basis.
SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
Awards are $1000 each and may only be used for first time business studies students. Two scholarships will be awarded annually.
APPLICATION
Students must complete the application along with proof of their acceptance to the Institution. Applicants are solely responsible for gathering and submitting all relevant information. All applications will be held in confidence and will be reviewed by Award Committee personnel.
RECIPIENT SELECTION
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic achievement, leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, statement of educational and career goals and a recommendation by an adult
(a teacher, counsellor or a family member).
Scholarships awarded will be based on the selection procedures. Not all applicants will receive awards.
Selection of recipients will be made by the Selection Committee. The general membership of the BAOP will play no part in the selection. All applicants will be notified of their status by April of the year of studies.
PAYMENT OF AWARDS
Scholarship payments are authorized by BAOP and will be processed by the Sponsor. Payments will be made in two equal installments.
OBLIGATIONS
Scholarship recipients must enroll in their educational programs no later September of the year in which the awards will be made. Recipients must uphold the ideals of the BAOP and will be required to provide the BAOP with current transcripts and to notify the Association of any changes of address, changes in program of study and any other relevant information.
REVISION POLICY
The general conditions and procedures under which this scholarship is administered are subject to periodic review by the BAOP in consultation with the sponsors, including the termination of the program.
